Darcy Smith
MA, MT-BC, NMT Owner & Director Board Certified Music Therapist CBMT #12831 Neurologic Music Therapist |
" As a music therapist, it is my goal to help my patients find their strengths and utilize those qualities they already possess in tandem with the inherent qualities of music (rhythm, melody, form) in order to help them to grow and strengthen their areas of need. Music has a place in everyone's life throughout the entirety of their development, making music therapy an accessible tool for nearly anyone to benefit from. " Darcy studied Music Therapy at Immaculata University in Malvern, PA. During her studies of music therapy, she completed a six month internship at The Pilot School in Wilmington, DE, a K-8 school for students with learning exceptionalities. She then completed an additional three month internship at Camp Pegasus in Ardmore, PA, a summer social skills day camp for children ages 5-14. She graduated in 2016 with a MA in Music Therapy, obtained the MT-BC credential the same year, and went on to gain NMT certification in 2017. Prior to studying Music Therapy at the graduate level, she attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she earned a BA in Psychology and a minor in Music. Darcy has offered music therapy services to a diverse range of clientele including patients in hospice care and geriatric rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, older adults, and adults and children with developmental needs, with emphasis on early intervention for children on the autism spectrum.
